Lesson plans are designed to help you conduct a lesson in a logical order.
They should contain the following items:
Recap; this should be information to remind you what experience if any that the learner driver has achieved up this training session. Do they have the necessary skills to perform the task your will be teaching? You will need to Q & A them to find out. For example: if you're going to teach a turn-in-the-road, do they know how to co-ordinate the pedals to keep the car under control?
Objective; this is the subject (or PST) that you will be teaching the learner. This should be worded something along these lines: "By the end of this lesson, you will be able to xxxxxxxxxxxxx (lesson topic) with some help from me". ( A novice or part trained learner).
Teaching aids are the reference materials that you will use to explain the topic, such as reference books.
Methods used. This will give you a reminder of how are you going to teach the subject. For example, a full talk through or prompting.
Review. At the end of the lesson, discuss with the learner (and if you have time the SE) if they reached the objective, and how they thought the lesson went.
Topic for the next lesson. Discuss with the learner what they will be doing on their next lesson.
Homework. Set any tasks you want them to do between lessons.
If you're having a problem creating lesson plans, our sister company Learn 2 Teach have produced ready made plans. Each plan covers the 20 PST's for the Part 3 ADI test. For more info, click this link.
